Chocolate Chip Lava Cookies

Chocolate chip lava cookies are a decadent delight, combining chewy chocolate chip cookies with a molten chocolate truffle center.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 8 small chocolate truffles for lava filling

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350F 175C

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined

Add the egg to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until smooth

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined

Stir in the chocolate chips

Scoop about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough and flatten it in your palm

Place a chocolate truffle in the center and wrap the dough around it, forming a ball

Repeat with the remaining dough and truffles

Arrange the cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes

The cookies will be slightly undercooked in the center

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely

Serve the chocolate chip lava cookies warm for a gooey lava center
