This Heirloom Tomato Pizza celebrates the vibrant flavors of heirloom tomatoes and fresh basil, making it a delightful summer treat. The combination of juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and aromatic basil on a crispy crust is simply irresistible.
Ingredients:
- 1 pizza dough
- 2 large heirloom tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Set your oven to 475F 245C before you start cooking
On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to the thickness you want
Place the rolled dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone
Brush olive oil on the dough and then sprinkle minced garlic all over it
In a circle shape, put the heirloom tomatoes on top of the dough
Add some shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the tomatoes
Add pepper and salt to taste
It should be baked in a hot oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and a little browned
Take it out of the oven and let it cool down a bit
Put some torn basil leaves on top of the pizza before you serve it
Cut it up and enjoy!
